Practical tips for visiting Brașov
Best time to travel
Summer (June to August): Ideal for exploring the old town and surroundings with good weather. Pleasant temperatures between 20–25 °C. This time is perfect to experience the different festivals held in the city, such as the Gastronomic Festival at Lake Noua (August 9–11) or the Teutonic Fest Hărman (July 27–28), a medieval festival with historical reenactments, theater shows, and medieval music.
Winter (December to February): Perfect for skiing in Poiana Brașov and enjoying the Christmas atmosphere. Don’t forget to bring warm clothes.
Autumn (September and October): Spectacular mountain landscapes with autumn colors. Ideal for hiking routes in the area.
How to get there and move around
From Bucharest: Two and a half hours by car or train. The Brașov train station is well connected.
Around the city: Walk through the historic center; it’s small and charming. To explore the surroundings or to get to the city, renting a car is easy and cheap. The roads are generally in good condition.
